SCHOLASTIC TRAINING TOURNAMENTS

About the Event:

Experts agree that the single best way for junior chess players to improve and deepen their enjoyment of the game of chess IS TO PLAY MORE! Come to our junior chess tournaments on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Room 3C14 - University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Avenue. All junior players (K-12) are welcome even if they have never played in a tournament before (Players must know how the pieces move, of course). We will be running through the rules of chess for the students, and how a tournament works. The tournament will be held from 12:30 to 4:30 consisting of a four (4) round swiss system tournament. As an added feature a 'bughouse tournament' will be run from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon .Everyone is welcome. This is the perfect opportunity for junior players to gain valuable additional practice before the provincial scholastic championships in March.
