HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING THE SUMMER

BOY O BOY is the summer ever going fast !
There is so much to do and so little time to do it !

First off....A big congrats to team Manitoba for that huge showing in Edmonton in May at the Canadian Chess Challenge!

We got silver medal production from Dezhong Kong (grade 3) and Trevor Vincent (grade 12), as well as bronze medal performances from Michael Pang (grade 5) and Weixi Lui(grade 11)
combined with a strong showing from the rest of our team (often against much stronger kids from the other provinces) had Team Manitoba chasing mighty Alberta for fourth spot right until the end when they pulled slightly ahead and we had to settle for fifth place 20 points ahead of Nova Scotia . Team Ontario won the event for the 11th year in a row. For all the details go to www.chess-math.org/ and follow the links to chess challenge 2008 .

A GREAT BIG WELL DONE TO NOTRE DAME DE LOURDES SATURDAY 28 June
some 30 players including 20 juniors took part in this well run and organized chess tournament . Three big sections with top rated junior Trevor Vincent winning the top section and juniors Isaac Weibe and Alexander Iomdina winning sections 2&3.
