Today October 18, 2008, a contingent of chess players from Manitoba traveled to Fargo, North Dakota to play in the 2nd annual Chessnut Tournament. This year, as part of the Annual Chessnut Tournament, an unrated scholastic chess tournament was also held. A total of 33 players participated in the scholastic tournament, of which 8 played in the primary section, 12 in the middle years section and 13 in the high school section. Manitoba was represented in the primary section by Manitoba's own Wayne Einarsson
In the primary section, Zach Bigelow came in first and Blake Pember came in third, while Manitoba's Wayne Einarsson came in second. Also of note, former Manitoban now making his home in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Vahid Fazel played in the middle years section.
